- Temple Isaiah, a Reform congregation in Los Angeles, is a Green Sanctuary program for COEJL Southern California. The congregation has realized a net savings of $1400/yr through recycling efforts. They have distributed 150 CFLs to leaders and congregants, as well as 250 earth stewardship coffee mugs. They lead nature hikes, and have had a hybrid vehicle displayed at Purim and broadened the environmental focus of their Tu B’Shvat programming to include the impact of non-native species. - The Wilshire Boulevard Temple, another Reform congregation in Los Angeles, kicked off its first year of “Engage the Environment” in 2004. Their education campus fully recycles and reduced garbage by 40% in the first 6 weeks. Congregants of all ages have participated in restoration work along the Santa Monica beach and they have partnered with COEJLSC on eco-hikes. To learn more….
