Evangelical Education and Care for God's Creation cont.

  • Nearly forty member institutions of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities offer majors, minors, or concentrations (also called “options” or “tracks”) in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or Ecology.
    • The Christian Environmental Studies Center at Montreat College lists some courses offered at Christian colleges on environmental stewardship, as well as reports on campus environmental activity and other materials from the Coalition [now Council] of Christian Colleges and Universities’ Global Stewardship Initiative.
    • For example, Taylor University (Upland, Indiana) offers Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Earth and Environmental Science in a setting that nurtures an ethic of Christian stewardship.
  • The classroom is the creation itself at field stations such as Seattle Pacific University’s Blakely Island Field Station in the San Juan Islands of Puget Sound and the Wheaton College Science Station in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
  • The Zahniser Institute at Greenville College promotes sustainable use, wilderness and wildland preservation, and the integration of an environmental stewardship ethic into the morals of our society.
  • Students at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, developed The Greenhouse, an intentional community focused on fostering habits of sustainable living and environmental stewardship.
  • Campus chapter programs of A Rocha U.S.A. and Restoring Eden, two Christian environmental groups, offer fellowship, service and study opportunities for Christian undergraduate students.
