Church Energy Efficiency cont.
Calvary
United Methodist Church
Annapolis, MD
Then Calvary began a building program, creating
an addition and renovating part of the facilities.
The data Mary Jean and others had gathered from
monitoring their energy usage over the years gave
them insights into their own building that enabled
them to contribute to the design and construction
process in consultation with the architects, mechanical
and electrical engineers, and contractors.
Calvary now has a building automation system
for regulating the temperature of each room in
the building according to the week’s meeting
schedule. Microprocessors on many units maximize
efficiency. Mary Jean is convinced that they will
become more efficient with the equipment they
have and that more people will continue to use
their facility.
As she says, “The more energy we saved,
the more people we were able to serve.”
