Environmental Stewardship
Ministry Project cont.
Door Creek Church
Madison, WI Evangelical Free Church in America
The congregation is engagingly modest about its
accomplishments. “The project of Door Creek
Church is a ‘small thing.’ ‘Who
despises the day of small things?’ (Zechariah
4:10) We are to be stewards of what God has given
us, even if it is a ‘small thing.’”
Door Creek Community has continued to strive
toward better environmental stewardship. They
have added to the prairie plantings and trees
by collecting seed in the fall for planning the
following spring. They have added benches to invite
neighbors to stop and enjoy the beauty of the
site. They continue to educate the congregations
and neighbors about environmental stewardship
through educational brochures, displays, and participation
in ministry fairs. Today, members of Door Creek
Church are greeted each Sunday by an ever changing
display of color from the prairie, savannah, and
wetland plants that have taken hold and begun
to flourish.
