Engage the Environment
The
Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Los Angeles, CA
Jewish, Reform Movement
The Wilshire Boulevard Temple kicked off its first
year of “Engage the Environment” in
2004 by having an energy audit, supervised by
COEJL
of Southern California, to bring their 75-year
old facility up to the maximum energy efficiency
possible. Their education campus fully recycles,
and reduced garbage by 40 percent in the first six weeks.
Congregants of all ages have partnered with the
Los Angeles
County’s Department of Parks to plant trees,
and have worked with Heal
the Bay to address the pressing environmental
needs at Santa Monica Beach.
