Faith Communities Push Back Against EPA Rollback of Vehicle Pollution Standards

7/14/2026

On July 6 2026, over 14,000 people of faith submitted comments to the Environmental Protection Agency, including thousands of Black Church leaders, urging them to not adopt their proposal to delay the enforcement of more stringent pollution limits for cars and light trucks by two years. Delaying the rule would allow the auto industry to continue to produce and sell more inefficient, polluting cars, forcing communities to continue to breathe in unnecessary, avoidable, and toxic air pollutants which harm human health and the environment.
