In Your Community
  • Learn more about a particular environmental issue that interests you.
    • Find out what local, state, or national laws or regulations are being proposed that involved that issue, and write to the appropriate government officials and to your local newspaper to express your own views. Don’t be afraid to mention that you are concerned about environmental problems and their impacts on people because of your faith, but don’t talk as if your faith gives you all the answers. • Get involved in local efforts to address environmental problems through local community, religious, or environmental organizations.
  • Get together with neighbors or members of your congregation to support each other in reducing your households’ environmental impact. See the website for EnAct Environmental Action Teams (Madison, Wisconsin) for an example of how this can be done.
