People of Faith Take Action to Save the Endangered Species Act
The Department of Interior is now accepting comments to reshape the Endangered Species Act under a rule making process that will undermine this bedrock law that has become the Noah's Ark for protecting endangered species. Please join us in sending in comments to Secretary Bernhardt.
Dear Secretary Bernhardt,
As a person of faith who cares deeply for our nation’s wildlife, I strongly oppose the Trump Administration’s proposed changes to regulations implementing the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This proposal will weaken federal efforts to protect God's creatures.
As a stewards of God's creation we need to protect bedrock laws like the Endangered Species Act, which has been extremely effective in keeping species from extinction. To date, ninety-nine percent of listed species have survived and been set on a path to recovery. With extinction rates at least 100 times greater than normal, we should be working to strengthen not weaken the ESA. The Department of Interior’s rule making and more than 100 bills and amendments proposed this Congress have put the Noah's Ark of conservation laws in jeopardy.
Implementing the Endangered Species Act should be science-based and not hinge on economics. God's creation is not a commodity but a sacred trust that we must protect. I strongly urge the Trump Administration to withdraw this damaging plan that will weaken the ESA.
Sincerely,
